Shakira took to Instagram on Sunday to bid farewell to Barcelona after deciding to move away with her children and parents to start a new life – after her split from Gerard Pique.
The singer-songwriter, 46, posted an image of the Barcelona skyline with a lengthy caption in Spanish.
The Whenever, Wherever songstress wrote, ‘I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability, the same that we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea.
‘Today we begin a new chapter in the search for their happiness. Thanks to everyone who surfed so many waves with me there in Barcelona, the city where I learned that friendship is undoubtedly longer than love.’
The Columbian-born singer, referred to as the ‘Queen of Latin Music,‘ continued, ‘Thanks to everyone who encouraged me there, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow.

The brunette bombshell was spotted at the Barcelona airport on Sunday with her two sons as she fled to an undisclosed location and will not return ahead of her move to Florida.
Catalan daily El Periodico described it as her ‘final goodbye’ as the family will continue to Miami to start their new life there.
Shakira cut a casual figure as she made her way through the airport with extensive luggage, opting for a stylish denim ensemble.
She looked great in jeans and a matching jacket over a blue top with shades.
Shakira styled her long honey tresses in loose waves and chose a typically glowing makeup look.
She was seen hugging someone before making her way through to departures.
Her sons Milan, ten, and Sasha, eight, looked sporty in their ensembles as they joined their mother at the airport.
Once on the plane, she shared a shot of the wing inscribed, ‘But things are not always as we dream them to be.’
