According to Eleven, on the Esport3 channel, an agreement was reached Monday evening between FC Barcelona and Manchester United for the transfer of Frenkie de Jong. But the Dutch midfielder does not want to leave.

Manchester United are stepping up a gear over Frenkie de Jong. The Mancunian leaders were in Barcelona on Monday evening to move forward with the transfer of the Dutch midfielder. According to the program Eleven, on the Esport3 channel, an agreement has been reached.

The two clubs would have managed to agree on an amount of 85 million euros, the price paid by the Catalan club in the summer of 2019 to sign Frenkie de Jong, then from Ajax Amsterdam. But if the 25-year-old had revealed himself under the orders of Erik ten Hag, who had become the coach at Old Trafford for a few weeks, de Jong would not want to leave Catalonia.

Under contract until 2026

The hardest part is yet to come for Manchester United , who must now obtain Frenkie de Jong’s agreement. Under contract until June 2026, the international Oranje is unhappy with the current situation, even if he understands that Barça are pushing him to leave for economic reasons. FC Barcelona and Manchester United are now hoping for a positive outcome.

Frenkie de Jong is the Red Devils’ summer priority. After the last meeting on Monday evening, sporting director Mateu Alemany would have informed Xavi of the agreement reached with Manchester United. The Blaugrana technician is counting on Frenkie de Jong but will undoubtedly have to resolve to this transfer. The English club now hopes to close the file.

In the meantime, Frenkie de Jong was back in Barca training on Monday, where he underwent medical tests like the other players. Last season, he participated in 45 games in all competitions, for four goals and five assists.
