The Inter Miami star attained a significant social media milestone, amassing 500 million followers on Instagram, securing his position as the third-most followed account globally.

Lionel Messi, celebrated as the 2022 World Cup champion and an eight-time recipient of the Ballon d’Or award for soccer excellence, has achieved a remarkable milestone in the realm of social media. Over the weekend, Messi’s Instagram account garnered an impressive 500 million followers.

The Argentine athlete already held the position as the third-most followed account on the popular social media platform, trailing only behind Instagram itself and his prominent soccer rival.

Additionally, Messi claims the distinction of possessing the most-followed Instagram account among individuals residing in the United States, showcasing his status as the star player for Inter Miami’s MLS soccer team.

While Instagram’s official account boasts the highest number of followers at 669 million, Cristiano Ronaldo stands as the most-followed person on the platform with 662 million followers, a fact that his fans may relish.

Nevertheless, Messi enthusiasts can proudly assert superiority once more, as Messi’s World Cup celebratory post, posted after leading Argentina to victory in Qatar in December 2022, holds the record for the most-liked post in Instagram history, garnering over 75.5 million likes.
