Memphis Depay is one step away from becoming Atletico Madrid’s newest signing as negotiations for his departure from Barcelona near their end. The attacker, who did not train on Wednesday morning with his teammates, will become a red and white player imminently.
Although those at the Camp Nou had always assured that the striker would not leave if a replacement did not arrive first, the pressure of Atletico, who already had a full agreement with the player, has finally precipitated the movement.
So, Atleti will pay just three million euros for the transfer of Memphis, who finishes his contract next June. An amount significantly lower than the 7m that Barcelona initially demanded.
Atletico had always refused to include players in the operation, such as Yannick Carrasco.
Reports say the agreement with the player includes a contract for this season and two more, until 2025.
