Eric Bailly’s time at Man United has finally come to an end this summer as the defender has joined Turkish club Besiktas.

Eric Bailly has officially joined Turkish club Besiktas on a permanent transfer from Manchester United.

Bailly was not named in Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad for pre-season and he wasn’t given a provisional squad number. He was told he was not in the club’s plans and he’s now joined Besiktas on a permanent deal.

It’s understood Bailly has joined Besiktas on a free transfer despite having been contracted at Old Trafford until 2024. United have been content to remove Bailly from the wage bill and the centre-back has signed a one-year contract with Besiktas.

A statement from the Turkish Super Lig side said:

“Our club has reached an agreement with Manchester United for the final transfer of Ivorian defender Eric Bailly.

“We wish Eric Bailly, who we believe will provide important services to our club, great success with our glorious jersey, and present it to the public with our respect.”

Bailly spent last season on loan with Marseille and spent seven years at United after signing from Villarreal for £30million in 2016.

The Ivory Coast international Jose Mourinho’s first signing and he made 113 appearances for the club.
