Andre Casa Mbungo has committed his future to AS Kigali after penning a two-year contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2025.

Mbungo enjoyed a bright start to the 2022/23 season, beating APR FC to the super Cup.

His team also finished the first round of the 2022/23 league season leading the table before failing to maintain their title grip only to finish in fourth position.

His contract extension, however, looks like a risk for a city which has not signed a single player during the current transfer window pending reported financial constraints and administrative crisis which started since former President Fabrice Shema left the club at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, after hijacking the transfer of midfielder Olivier Seif Niyonzima, Kiyovu again beat Rayons Sports to the signature of striker Richard Bazobwa Kirongozi from Burundian side Bumamuru FC.

Kirongozi played a key part in helping Bumamuru win the 2022/23 Burundian league title.

He is the latest player to have signed for the Mumena-based side which also signed Liberian striker Obedia Mikel, goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa from Bull FC, Matata Gakuru from Rutsiro FC, Angolan attacker Afonso Sebastiao, Bryan Guy Kazindu from Gasogi United and Jeremie Basilua while Zungu Hassan agreed a deal to become club new assistant coach.

Etoile de l’Est signs six new players

Newcomers Etoile de l’Est continue to rebuild ahead of the new season. The club recently announced six new signings, all coming from outside Rwanda.

New signings include Abdoul Iradukunda from Vital’O, Mathias Muwanga from Uganda, Tity Hakizimana from Rukinzo, former Enugu Rangers winger Sunday Inemesit, Jeremie Mumbere Mbusa from AS Vita club and Serge Dunia Wasalo from DRC.

Burundian duo complete Amagaju FC move

Nyamagabe-based side Amagaju FC is also pushing to make their transfer business right ahead of the new season after earning a top flight football promotion.

The club started the training on Wednesday with two Burundian players Abdoulrahmani Rukundo who signed for the club from Flambeau du Centre, and Mustafa Irakoze from Olympique Stars. The duo put pen to paper to a two-year-deal each.

Meanwhile, Amagaju neighbors Mukura Victory Sports extended the contract of captain Alex Ngirimana, who committed his future to the Black and Yellow team until June 2024.
