The Southern Conference of the 2023 African Basketball League dunked off on Saturday and it was a difficult start for the Nigeria champions Kwara Falcons who lost their first game on Sunday.

In the opening game on Saturday, host AS Douanes of Senegal suffered a 70-76 to ABC Fighters of Ivory Coast.

The Rwanda champions Rwanda Energy Group (REG) proved too much for Nigeria’s Kwara Falcons with a huge defeat of 64-48.

The Rwandans dominated the game from the start with a 16-9 win in the first quarter.

The Kwara state-based club improved in the 2nd quarter to close the gap to 31-29 points by halftime.

REG proved their mettle again in the 3rd quarter with a 55-37 win before wrapping up the game with a 64-48 win.

Kwara Falcons will have another opportunity to redeem their battered image when they confront Stade De Malien on Monday at the same Arena.
