AS Roma have confirmed the arrival of Evan Ndicka on a free transfer.

Ndicka was up for grabs after opting against a contract renewal from Eintracht Frankfurt and several European clubs wanted to sign him.

However, Roma managed to convince the French-born defender to move to the Stadio Olimpico.

The 23-year-old has penned a five-year contract with the Giallorossi until 2028 and will reportedly earn €4 million per season.

Ndicka has enjoyed significant growth at Frankfurt over the years, becoming a prominent fixture in the defence and helping them win the 2021/22 Europa League.

The former French youth star, who recently switched allegiance to Ivory Coast, offered his thoughts on the move, stating that the club’s rich history persuaded him to move to the Italian capital.

“The way that the project was explained to me along with this club’s history and prestige made me want to come to Rome, which is a fantastic city that loves and lives for football,”

“I can’t wait to take to the Olimpico pitch in front of my new supporters and make my contribution towards achieving our objectives.”

Ndicka told Roma’s official website.

Roma’s general manager Tiago Pinto also had high praise for Ndicka as he highlighted the defender’s experience and his influence at Frankfurt.

“Despite his young age, Evan is already a mature player with a wealth of experience from one of the most prestigious leagues, and he also played a key role in his previous club’s European success,”

“He was a particularly sought-after player on the international stage, so we’re thrilled he has chosen Roma.”

Pinto said.

Ndicka will be Roma’s second summer signing following Houssem Aouar’s free transfer from Lyon.

The Giallorossi have been productive in the transfer market, snapping up two bargain buys in Ndicka and Aouar.

They are also working on the permanent transfer of Diego Llorente from Leeds United. A deal is close to being reached.

Gianluca Scamacca remains Roma’s priority in attack. Personal terms have been agreed, but West Ham United have declined their loan approach as they want a permanent transfer.
