Thomas Tuchel will reportedly have to depart England for good in December after he was sacked by Chelsea rather than being placed on gardening leave.

Tuchel was axed as Blues boss in September and will not be able to stay in the country due to post-Brexit visa laws as he is unemployed.

But The Telegraph reports that two of the German’s assistants from his time at Stamford Bridge, Zsolt Low and Benjamin Webber, were placed on gardening leave, which means they are technically still employed and are able to remain in England.

The reasons why Tuchel, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, was not given a similar arrangement by the Todd Boehly-led group at Stamford Bridge are unclear.

Tuchel, 49, is likely to move back to Munich but intends to split his time between the German city and London, according to The Telegraph.

The German took the job at Chelsea on a post-Brexit Governing Body Endorsement visa, which allowed him to stay in England for the duration of his stay at the club.

The visas, which can cost more than £1,000 to obtain, are valid for three years but can be extended for as long as the person remains employed.

Another one of Tuchel’s assistants, Arno Michels, had no intention of remaining in the country after his departure from the club.

Tuchel is believed to be the first coach to be forced to exit the country as a result of the post-Brexit visa laws.

He is looking to get back into work following his brutal dismissal by Chelsea, which came the morning after an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Tuchel has been linked with the England job in the future and has reportedly expressed interest in taking over from Gareth Southgate.

Graham Potter, Tuchel’s successor at Chelsea, has come under increasing pressure after the Blues fell to a third consecutive Premier League defeat at Newcastle on Saturday.

Chelsea are eighth going into the World Cup break and are eight points adrift of the top four.

Tuchel last week fired a word of warning to Potter.

“My experience in Chelsea, Paris, Dortmund and Mainz, it is about the results,”

“You can overcome one loss, a short period… but it cannot be too long otherwise nobody trusts the process no more.”

He told the Ayurvedic Healing & Beyond Podcast.
