Atlético de Madrid has entered into a partnership with the real estate group Civitas. This agreement includes the naming of its stadium but also a transformation of the site.

A new name for the Atlético de Madrid stadium . This Tuesday, the Spanish club said it had entered into a partnership with the real estate group Civitas. While the naming contract with the Chinese group Wanda had come to an end, the Colchoneros enclosure, invested by Atlético in 2017 , will now be called the Civitas Metropolitano.

According to the Spanish press, the agreement would be for 50 million euros over five years. “This global agreement goes well beyond the name Civitas Metropolitano”, specifies the real estate group in a press release, referring to “a project focused on sustainable development”.

Site transformation

The new name of the stadium was indeed announced during a press conference presenting the “Ciudad del Deporte”, which includes a transformation of the site around the Madrid enclosure.

“The Cívitas Metropolitano will become a sustainable and energy-efficient space, from self-consumption to the use of renewable energies, continues Civitas in its press release. The first stage of the transformation process begins with the application of the ecological paint Graphenstone, which will cover a large part of the stadium. The carbonation process of the paint after it has been applied causes CO² to be absorbed, providing cleaner air around the sports field.”
