Before the Premier League resumed at the weekend, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte smiled that he wanted to win the league and the Champions League this season.

For his second season on the bench for Tottenham , having recovered the team during exercise in November 2021, Antonio Conte is thinking big. Asked about his goals in a press conference, the Italian joked:

“I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League.”

Just that, while Spurs have never lifted the cup with big ears and have been chasing a league title since 1961. Above all, last season, the Londoners narrowly snatched 4th place in the Premier League, 22 points behind champion Manchester City, and were eliminated in the group stage of the Europa League Conference.

“We must not be presumptuous or arrogant”

“My objective and that of the club is to progress, recognized Antonio Conte more humbly. Our objective for the moment is not to fight with Manchester City and Liverpool, it is to try to be better compared to the last season.”

With the recruitment of Richarlison , Bissouma and Spence for more than 100 million euros, in addition to the arrivals free or on loan of Perisic and Lenglet, Tottenham have strengthened well this summer, but Conte, beyond the joke, wants to remain moderate in what it announces.

“We must not be presumptuous or arrogant. We must work, work and plan on and off the pitch to become a top club.”

It will start on Saturday against Southampton. The double championship-Champions League is perhaps not for now.
