Senegal’s female national team, Teranga Lionesses will be heading to the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in style.
The Lionesses will be making their first appearance at the biennial competition since 2012 after beating West African neighbours, Mali on penalty shootouts.
The Teranga Lionesses will look to repeat the feat attained by their male counterparts, who clinched the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year after edging Egypt on penalty shootouts.
Senegal has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, debutants Burkina Faso and East African side Uganda in arguably the group of death. The tournament will be hosted by Morocco from 2 to 23 July 2022.
The West African side, who are making their third appearance at the WAFCON, would hope to improve on their performances in the previous tournaments, failing to qualify from the group in their initial two appearances.
