England’s Euro 2022 football win “will be an inspiration for girls and women today, and for future generations”, Queen Elizabeth II said on Sunday.

“Your achievement goes far beyond the trophy you so well deserved. You have all set an example that will inspire girls and women today and generations to come,”

Said in a press release the 96-year-old sovereign, this Sunday, July 31.

Queen Elizabeth II congratulated the England team on Sunday July 31 for their victory in the Women’s Football Euro, hailing “an inspiration” for women and “future generations” at the end of a competition which met with historic popular success in the United Kingdom.

“Your achievement goes far beyond the trophy you so well deserved. You have all set an example that will inspire girls and women today and generations to come,”

Said in a press release the 96-year-old sovereign, who now only speaks on very rare occasions.

Outgoing Prime Minister Boris Johnson sent his “huge congratulations” to the “Lionesses” on Twitter, saying that “the football pitches across the country will be filled like never before with girls and women inspired by your triumph”.
