Just before the World Cup in Qatar (November 21 – December 18), Neymar will have to appear in court. The Brazilian will be tried from October 17 to 31 in Barcelona for alleged irregularities in his transfer from Santos to Barça in 2013. His parents as well as the two former presidents of the Catalan club Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell will also be on the dock, according to El País .

A transfer with blurred contours

The case follows a complaint from the Brazilian company DIS in 2015 which held 40% of the player’s rights at the time of the transfer and which considers itself aggrieved. At the time, the amount of the operation was estimated at just over 50 million euros, but since then it has been proven that Rosell lied about the amount of the operation which was in fact much higher. El Mundo  even announced a sum of 134 million euros.

When Neymar joined Europe, DIS believes he was the victim of a deception concocted by the player, his entourage and FC Barcelona. The prosecution requires two years in prison against the PSG star and five for Rosell.
