Men’s Ballon d’Or 2022 nominees announced

The 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or were revealed on Friday. Unsurprisingly, Karim Benzema, big favorite to win the day, is present, with three other Frenchmen. Big surprise, Lionel Messi is absent from the list, just like Neymar.

We now know the list of 30 nominated for the Ballon d’Or. This Friday, the suitors for the succession of Lionel Messi were revealed. Unsurprisingly, big favorite Karim Benzema is one of them, as are Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland. Three other French people are on the list, namely Kylian Mbappé, Christopher Nkunku and Mike Maignan. Two big surprises should be noted, with the absences of Neymar and especially Lionel Messi, the defending champion. This is the first time since 2005 that the Pulga has not appeared in the Ballon d’Or ranking.

For the first time, the Ballon d’Or calendar is modeled on that of the season and not on the calendar year. Bodes well for Karim Benzema after his exceptional season with Real Madrid. The winner will be known on October 17.

Thibaut Courtois, Mohamed Salah, Rafael Leao, Joshua Kimmich, Christopher Nkunku, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Vinicius Jr, Bernardo Silva, Luiz Diaz, Robert Lewandowski, Riyad Mahrez, Casemiro, Fabinho, Heung-Min Son, Karim Benzema, Mike Maignan, Harry Kane, Darwin Nunez, Phil Foden, Sadio Mané, Sébastien Haller, Luka Modric, Antonio Rüdiger, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Dusan Vlahovic, Virgil Van Dijk, Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland, Joao Cancelo.
