Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen will be out until at least late April or May after picking up an ankle injury.

Eriksen picked up the problem during United’s FA Cup win over Reading on Saturday when he was caught with a tackle by Andy Carroll.

A statement from United read:

“While investigations are continuing, initial assessments indicate that Eriksen is likely to be out until late April or early May.

“Eriksen’s absence will be a big disappointment to manager Erik ten Hag and fans given the consistency of his performances throughout the season so far.

“However, there is hope that Christian can return in time to play a role in the final stages of the season.”

The 30-year-old has impressed for United since joining in the summer. He has scored twice in 31 appearances for the Old Trafford club and helped them climb up the Premier League table. They are up to fourth.
