Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Chelsea have made two offers deemed insufficient for Wesley Fofana

On the other hand, he assures that there was no new offer this week. Chelsea are already the biggest spending Premier League club this summer but the Blues are not planning to stop there.

They are now targeting Wesley Fofana – in addition to Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emeric Aubameyang . This Thursday, in an interview with the BBC, Brendan Rodgers, the Leicester coach, confirmed the interest of the Blues and the two offers made by the club to recruit the French central defender.

“But none of them came close to the value set by the club,”

He said.

Leicester extended Fofana until 2027 a few months ago and do not intend to sell their 21-year-old nugget unless there is a gigantic offer from Chelsea. Rodgers also added that no new proposals had come to the table this week.

Fofana more expensive than Maguire?

The British media assure for certain that to give in to the Foxes, it would be necessary to make Fofana the most expensive defender in the history of football. For the moment, this label is attached to Harry Maguire , current Manchester United defender who arrived in 2019 from Leicester, already, for 87 million euros.

Injured almost all of last season, Fofana returned to competition last March after a fractured fibula, and has only played fifteen games since his return. This season, he started Leicester’s first Premier League game against Brentford last weekend.
