Clement Lenglet is close to joining Tottenham Hotspur as agreement with Barcelona being finalised
It’s just a matter of time before Clement Lenglet is announced as a new Tottenham Hotspur signing from Barcelona, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
The North London club is still working on certain details, but the French centre-back’s loan deal is said to be close to being agreed upon by the two clubs. The 27-year-old has already accepted terms with Spurs and it’s considered a matter of final steps now.
Lenglet’s possible arrival will see Antonio Conte have a natural left-footed defender. Currently, Ben Davies has been preferred by the Italian to cover the left-hand side of the defense. While the Welshman has done a good job, fans feel an out-and-out centre-back will be able to cover up more threats.
The 25-year-old is an experienced centre-back, having played 314 official games in his club career. The French international also has 15 caps for his national side. In his four years in Barcelona, the defender has played 158 games for the Blaugrana.
With Champions League football at the N17 to look forward to next season, Lenglet’s experience of playing in big games is something fans will look forward to. The ambition of the club with the recent signings is evident and the French defender is someone Conte now has in his side.
