England easily beat Sweden on Tuesday (4-0) in the first semi-final of Euro 2022. At home, the English shone and if Beth Mead offered herself a record, Alessia Russo scored a superb goal in heel.

France and Germany have been warned, it will be necessary to pull out all the stops to hope to beat England next Sunday at Wembley in the final of Euro 2022. This Tuesday during its semi-final against Sweden, the English selection did not did not go into detail and largely won (4-0) .

In front of a Sheffield audience won over to their cause, the Lionesses signed an offensive festival and made an impression before the other semi-final of the continental tournament which will pit Corinne Deacon’s Bleues against Mannschaft on Wednesday evening.

As often since the start of this Euro at home, England made the difference thanks to Bethany Mead. Not necessarily dangerous until then, the partners of the Arsenal winger still benefited from a nice inspiration from their serial scorer.

On a service from Lucy Bronze , the 27-year-old striker made a good control sequence then hit in pivot. His cross shot deceived the unfortunate Swedish goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl (1-0, 34th). Thanks to this new goal, the Englishwoman stands out at the top of the ranking of the top scorers of this Euro 2022 with a sixth achievement in five games.

After struggling to hold on before the break, the Swedes seemed to want to overthrow the locals when they returned from the locker room. But it didn’t pay off. On the contrary. On the first corner of the second period, Beth Mead perfectly adjusted her center to deposit a caviar on the head of Lucy Bronze.

After checking the video for a potential offside position of an Englishwoman, the goal of the break was validated and England came even closer to victory (2-0, 48th). The defender and striker were involved in both of the Lionesses’ goals, and Beth Mead took the opportunity to become the best passer in the competition (four offerings).

England finally titled at home?

After 1983 (and a defeat against Sweden in the first Women’s Euro) and 2009, the English selection will therefore play the third final in its history in the Women’s Euro. But unlike the two previous failures, the English will this time be able to count on the support of all of Her Gracious Majesty’s subjects at Wembley.

After ensuring the flat foot, the Englishwoman stumbled on Lindahl before recovering the ball for a brilliant inspiration. With a fabulous heel, the Manchester United player scored the third goal for the Lionesses (3-0, 68th). A small marvel which further inflamed the approximately 28,600 fans present in the stands of Bramall Lane in Sheffield.

Two years after the Three Lions of Gareth Southgate, the Lionesses of Sarina Wiegman will try to win the Euro at home in the superb setting of London. On their way will stand the winner of the other semi-final between France and Germany on Wednesday. A year after the Italian men’s crown , England will not want to relive such disappointment in their grand final at home.
