Barcelona are keen to bounce back after the hard blow they were dealt in the Champions League, missing out on qualification to the knockouts.

To do so, president Joan Laporta reportedly wants to make a splash in the winter transfer window.

As such, Laporta wants to bring back Lionel Messi, the finest player in the history of the club.

The Argentina international departed Barcelona in the summer of 2021 and joined Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain.

“Leo’s era did not end the way we all wanted it to,”

“We have a moral debt with him and we would like the end of his career to be wearing the Barcelona shirt.”

Laporta told the media before the Ballon d’Or gala.

Barcelona’s plan to bring back Messi

According to Sport, Barcelona are determined to try to sign the Argentine star, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

However, they do not want to wait until the summer, so their goal is to bring him back in January.

Sport point out that this won’t be an easy task for Barcelona because PSG are not willing to sell him to any team and they don’t even want to enter into talks with the Catalans given their poor relationship.
