According to the Telegraph, Chelsea will sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer as a stop-gap solution

Aubameyang as a fallback? According to reports from The Telegraph , Chelsea would like to move forward with the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barça as an interim solution before looking at long-term targets next summer, including RB Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku.

Leao and Kalajdzic also targeted

The 24-year-old Frenchman is said to be among the attacking players on Chelsea’s list of potential signings, who won’t be available until the end of the season. AC Milan’s Rafael Leão would also be admired at Stamford Bridge. Next summer, Stuttgart player Sasa Kalajdzic could also be transferred for free, as he will be out of contract in June 2023.

Aubameyang, who previously played under Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund , would be seen as an ideal player to bolster Chelsea’s attack and, at 33, would be among the priority attacking options. His goalscoring ability never wavered at Arsenal, although his spell at the club ended last season when he was stripped of his captaincy for a disciplinary offense.

11 La Liga goals last season

Arriving free at Barça in the winter after breaking his contract with the Gunners , he scored 11 La Liga goals in the second half of the season. But the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha this summer at Camp Nou now deprive him of a starting place. Although according to the Catalan press, Xavi would see in him the perfect replacement for the Pole .

Tuchel is still targeting a striker before the transfer deadline at the end of the month to give himself options and variety in attack. Raheem Sterling has been signed from Manchester City and Kai Havertz has started both Premier League games this season, but Tuchel would welcome the addition of another striker.

Gordon and Fofana still hoped for

Chelsea are reportedly still in talks with Everton over Anthony Gordon and talks are expected to continue over the phone early next week as club chairman Todd Boehly has to leave England, the newspaper said. Everton have so far rejected a £45m bid for the England Under-21 international, who is valued at over £50m by his club.

Leicester centre-back Wesley Fofana is also still targeted by Chelsea and could sign a long-term deal worth around £230,000-a-week in base salary if an agreement can be reached between the clubs.
