Manchester City crushed Nottingham Forest (6-0) on Wednesday evening during the 5th day of the Premier League, with in particular a hat-trick from Erling Haaland. Arsenal went on to win their fifth victory in as many games, while Liverpool snatched a last-second success.

Haaland, Alvarez and City walk around

The Cityzens did it fast and well: in just 38 minutes, Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick to extinguish Nottingham Forest’s hopes and ensure a quiet evening for Manchester City. Served three times in full box, with a little success on the second goal, the Norwegian is now nine goals in the Premier League, including two hat-tricks, after only five days.

After the break, João Cancelo and especially the Argentine nugget Julian Alvarez, author of a double for his first tenure in the league, worsened the score (6-0). All is well for Guardiola’s men, undefeated this season and whose attack sparkles, with 19 pawns registered since the start of the season.

Arsenal wins in pain and remains leader

The Gunners could frankly have made it easier with a little more realism. Gabriel Jesus, once again omnipresent, certainly opened the scoring in the first period, but Mikel Arteta’s players should have taken cover thanks to their many dangerous situations. Eventually, they remained reachable prey for Aston Villa.

On a direct corner from Douglas Luiz which could have been refused given the obstruction in front of Aaron Ramsdale, Steven Gerrard’s men also came back to score and thought they had a point. Except that three minutes later, Gabriel Martinelli put Arsenal back in front of the scoreboard (2-1). Five wins from five games this season, the Gunners continue their flawless run and retain the lead in the Premier League.

Liverpool snatch victory at the last second

We thought that the Reds could not chain. After their historic card against Bournemouth this weekend (9-0), Jürgen Klopp’s men stumbled at home against Newcastle for 97 minutes. They even conceded the opener against Alexander Isak . The Swede was playing his first match since arriving at Newcastle, and he even thought of doubling the bet on the hour mark, before his goal was disallowed for offside.

But a few minutes later, as a punishment, Roberto Firmino put Liverpool back in the running by equalizing on a pass from Mohamed Salah. And in the 98th minute of a match that was to count only five minutes of added time, on a last corner ended in a big mess, Fabio Carvalho gave victory to Liverpool. The Reds remain seven points behind Arsenal and five behind Manchester City.

Tottenham hung in the derby

Until now, even if it was sometimes laborious, Tottenham followed the rhythm of Manchester City, in the wake of Arsenal. But the Spurs experienced a misstep this Wednesday at the Olympic Stadium in London, against West Ham. Thilo Kehrer, who is having a difficult start to his adventure in England, had nevertheless given Tottenham the advantage on an own goal.

But in the second period, Tomas Soucek brought the Hammers up to speed. At the very end of the match, the Spurs were even close to losing to pressure from West Ham (1-1). In the standings, Harry Kane ‘s teammates remain on the podium, behind the Arsenal-City duo.
